Session Title – From Boot-room to Boardroom: Lessons for Organisational Wellbeing and Performance from Sport.

Drawing on ideas employed to develop sports performance, this masterclass will explore strategies and theories to understand the relationship between leaders and their team’s wellbeing. Designed for leaders at any level, the session’s content will cover:

1. What is the concept of wellbeing?

2. How do organisational cultures and their leadership impact on wellbeing?

3. Key ideas and practical strategies to become a wellbeing focused leader.

Facilitator – John Gray

During 22 years as a university lecturer, coach and trainer, John has worked on developing leadership with clients ranging from the volunteer sector to C-suite executives and multinational organisations. Drawing on his many experiences within sporting organisations, as well as a university lecturer, John blends lessons from current theory with real-world professional experiences to consider the problems facing contemporary organisational management. His key interests lie in the development of professional wisdom and he has been published in international peer-reviewed journals discussing the issues facing sports and exercise leadership. Over the past few years, John has worked as a Lecturer in Leadership for the Teesside University Business School. In this role he has brought new and innovative ideas on leadership, motivation, and group dynamics to managers and leaders from a diverse range of contexts and organisations. Focused on demonstrable performance through team relationships and wellbeing, John has been recognised in numerous award nominations from colleagues, clients, and students alike.
