The BCC now has ten nationally accredited core courses. Together, these form an export curriculum that provides invaluable basic skills for small and large companies alike. Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of the subject and their performance will be marked by external examiners on the completion of each module. Successful candidates will receive a certificate; completing six or more courses will result in the candidate achieving a nationally recognised Foundation Award in Exporting. These courses are suitable for both experienced exporters and those with no previous knowledge of exporting.

Who should attend?

This course is suitable for those working in International trade and are involved in the management and presentation of letters of credit.

The course will provide an overview of all methods of payment when trading internationally to include the risks and benefits involved. It will also guide you through the rules of managing a letter of credit and how to make sure documents are compliant, so payment is successful.

Course objectives:

  • Foreign currency transaction mitigation
  • Methods of payment – risks and benefits, including advance payment, documentary collection, open account, letter of credit
  • The letter of credit process including terminology, LC types, UCP 600 rules and management and presentation of the letter of credit
  • Incoterms 2020
  • Shipping documents
  • Hints and tips regarding best practice for L/Cs

Individual courses cost £225 + VAT (members) / £295 + VAT (non-members).
Courses are priced individually. A discount can be offered when booking 6 or more modules or booking 3 or more delegates on the same course.
